This fountain has a semicircular predella decorated with predominantly baroque motifs, particularly in the form of its surmounting volutes whose central part and spire occupy a more elevated position. It bears the coat-of-arms of Queen Maria I and a laudatory inscription referring to its foundation: This fountain − referred to as Fonte d’ el Rei − belongs to the lord of this estate. It was commissioned by the town council of Sintra by way of compensation for another fountain of old and solid architecture located further down that was demolished when changes were made to the direction of this road.
The base of this fountain has two jug spouts which pour large torrents of water into the trilobate stone tank, which is flanked by stone benches.
