A Quinta foi comprada, por volta de 1545, por Gaspar Cisneiros, natural de Beja e cavaleiro fidalgo dos Duques de Bragança, encontrando-se ainda vetustos testemunhos dessa época na casa. Permanece ainda ali uma capela devotada a São Bento, fundada em 1548, que constitui boa obra renascentista. Esta encontra-se precedida de galilé reta, sustentada por duas colunas encimadas por capitéis que dá acesso ao pórtico. No interior evidenciam-se os medalhões que fecham as abóbadas de nervuras, assentes em mísulas, sendo o central ornado por um cisne, alusivo à família do fidalgo vendo-se ainda frescos representando as Três Virtudes Teologais: Fé, Esperança e Caridade e uma outra alegoria, a Benfeitoria. Na capela-mor, destaca-se o altar com frontal revestido com azulejos mudéjares e na abóbada nervurada são também ainda visíveis pinturas representando as figuras alegóricas das Quatro Virtudes Cardeais: a Prudência, a Justiça, a Fortaleza e a Temperança.

The estate was purchased, circa 1545, by Gaspar Cisneiros, a native of Beja and a nobleman and knight of the Dukes of Bragança. The house still bears traces of the era in question and displays a prime example of renaissance architecture in the form of a chapel, founded in 1548 in honour of Saint Benedict. The house is preceded by a straight galilee, supported by two columns surmounted by capitals which gives access to the portico. Inside the house reference should be made to the medallions at the junction of the ribbed vaults, based on corbels, the central part of which is decorated by a swan, in an allusion to this nobleman’s family. There are also frescoes representing the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity and another allegory in the form of the Benefaction. The chancel’s main feature is its altar whose front is lined with mudéjar tiles. Paintings representing the allegorical figures of the four cardinal virtues of Prudence, Justice, Fortitude and Temperance are also visible on the ribbed vault.
