TÚMULO DOS DOIS IRMÃOS

O Túmulo dos Dois Irmãos consiste num monumento funerário pétreo, composto por uma arca sepulcral, sensivelmente retangular, com a particularidade de ostentar duas estelas discoides, uma colocada na cabeceira e outra na extremidade oposta; tipologicamente integra-se no contexto dos moimentos (monumentos) medievais.
De acordo com a tradição, estes tipos de estruturas tumulavam homens mortos em desafios, ou duelos, tal como a lenda dos Dois Irmãos, pois dois homens disputavam a atenção da mesma dama e, encontrando-se numa noite, digladiaram-se de morte; quando o sobrevivente reconheceu o seu irmão e, desesperado pelo assassinato, suicidou-se.

The Tomb of the Two Brothers is a stone funerary monument, in the shape of a roughly rectangular sarcophagus, with the particularity of having two disc-shaped stelae, one of which at the top and the other at the bottom of the monument, as is usually the case of medieval monuments (moimentos).
Tradition has it that such structures were the resting places of men killed in challenges, or duels, such as the legend of the two brothers, according to which two men vied for the attention of the same lady and, upon encountering each other one night, fought to the death. The survivor, upon recognising his brother, committed suicide in desperation for his murder.
