A Fonte Modernista, da autoria do arquiteto paisagista Viana Barreto, foi construída em 1962, no contexto do alargamento da Volta do Duche. Para a construção desta singela fonte, em lioz e envolvida em dois dos seus lados por alteado muro de vidraço rusticado e obrigou à remoção da Fonte Mourisca, ali armada em 1922. O fontanário é constituído por grande taça circular forrada de pequenos azulejos azuis e é alimentada por uma bica dupla. Completa o conjunto, a pedra de armas do Município esculpidas em relevo.

Heritage in the Special Protection Site of the Cultural Landscape of Sintra
This modernist fountain, designed by the landscape architect Viana Barreto, was built in 1962, at the time of the works involving the enlargement of the Volta do Duche. The construction of this simple fountain, in lioz (limestone) two of whose sides are flanked by a high rusticated glazed wall necessitated the dismantling of the Moorish fountain, which had been erected there in 1922. This double-spouted fountain empties its contents into a large circular bowl lined with small blue tiles. The fountain has been enhanced by a relief-sculpture of the coat-of-arms of Sintra’s town council.
